Sichuan Bang Bang
Wilston
SICHUAN BANG BANG IN WILSTON HAS CLOSED.
Sichuan Bang Bang is Wilston’s go-to for spicy Sichuan cuisine in a glam contemporary space that it shares with Italian twin Pizzeria Violetta.
Behind a wall within the bustling open-plan eatery is a cosy oriental den with red and black walls, contemporary Asian dining settings and red lanterns, the perfect setting to enjoy what is arguably Brisbane’s best (fiery) Chinese food from the south-west province of China.
On the menu are Appetisers such as Hunan Salt, Pepper & Chilli Squid, Tofu Skin Seafood Spring Rolls, Fried Vegetable Gotye Dumplings and Warm Yunnan Goat’s Cheese Salad with wokked capsicum, onion and chilli.
Mains include the highly recommended Delicious Crispy Duck with thick Sichuan Chilli Sauce and cucumber, Shanghainese Pork Spare Ribs in Vinegar sauce, Quick Fried Green Beans with pork mince and chilli oil or Chow Mein Crunchy Noodles with Kung Pao Chilli Chicken.
Otherwise there’s Noodles and Rice dishes including Shanghai Fried Rice (with certified free range egg and shallots), Chicken Fried Rice) with smoked pork, egg and shallots) or Hokkein Noodles with Chicken or Beef and veges.
And if even the spiciest dish on the menu – the Classic Sichuan Beef or Fish Hot Pot - isn’t hot enough (or, for that matter, any dish on the menu) ask for your meal to be ‘Ma La’.
To finish, there are Desserts of Deep Fried House Ice-Cream with Berry Topping or a range of Lick ice-creams in various flavours.
Need to know – Diners can order from the Sichuan Bang Bang menu regardless of where they sit in the combined Pizzeria Violetta and Sichuan Bang Bang venue. The menu is also available as takeaway.
Nice to know - Owned by restaurant dynamo Renata Roberts, Pizzeria Violetta and Sichuan Bang Bang are the 2nd ‘non-identical twin’ siblings to Kenmore’s eateries of the same name and share the same menu.
