Brisbane Distillery in West End is Brisbane's only gin distillery offering free tastings and bottle sales, with a secret cocktail bar and gin school where customers can create their own unique gin.
This artisan distillery is crafting award-winning gins, from grain to glass, and will begin distilling botanical vodkas and Caribbean-style rhum.
Each carefully distilled gin is made using natural Queensland ingredients and are as varied as they are complex, from the classic dry gin Brisbane Dry, and Game of Eucalyptus (native strawberry eucalyptus combined with lemon myrtle), to A Chocwork Orange, crafted with cocoa, rosemary and orange.
As for rhum, the distillery is filling some unique barrels of rhum to be enjoyed in 2020. Made in French Caribbean style, it's created using fresh sugar cane juice from Rocky Point Sugar Mill on the Gold Coast, instead of molasses like most rums.
For the ultimate gin experience, Brisbane Distillery offers patrons the chance to craft their own unique gin at Brisbane's only gin school; with more than 100 botanicals to choose from including juniper, citrus, spices, flowers, herbs, fruit, and Australian bush foods.
First you'll be guided through a tasting session to discover your preferred style of gin, and build a flavour profile you'd like to create. Once you've chose your botanicals, you'll learn how to distil them in a mini copper still, and make your own bottle of gin with your own personalised label.
The school boasts over 30 stills and can cater for large groups as well as more intimate experiences. Each Master Distiller class includes the opportunity to sample 4 gins from Brisbane Distillery, tasty snacks, and a bottle of signature gin to take home.
Nice to know - Brisbane Distillery offers a bottle refill service to encourage recycling. Return your empty gin bottle and the distillery will sterilise and refill it. Meanwhile, you get to take a fresh bottle home.
