The Observation Deck
Port Of Brisbane
THE OBSERVATION DECK IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19
Nobody but the Port of Brisbane workers know of the existence of Observation Cafe, a quirky Jetson's style canteen with panoramic views of the bay and its islands.
Yet in the midst of the working port is a space age building whose top floor is largely devoted to a glass-walled dining room that not only dishes up cheap café fare but has a wrap around verandah complete with stools, dining bar and binoculars to zero in on the sand dunes of Moreton Island.
Inside the décor is stark 1960s black white and red, including black leather couches to kick back and read one of the newspapers or magazines supplied.
The food menu consists of lamb of beef korma filo pastries, gourmet sausage rolls, Thai fish cakes, muffins and pre-packed sandwiches. Coffee is decent and comes courtesy of Fix, tea from T2 and other drinks are standard although at this stage the café is standing by for its liquor license.
Need to know - The cafe is on Level 7, which is Level R in the lift.
