SMITH HAS CHANGED HANDS AND REPLACED BY ELLEN AND ROD.

Smith is a hip little cafe on the corner of Ellenborough and Roderick Streets, where coffee enthusiasts from all over Ipswich fill the tables that line the footpath and others wait patiently for their daily coffee hit at the coffee bar.

Owner Donna Waters fell in love with Ipswich, she saw it as a place of opportunity and the perfect place to introduce a little bit of the Melbourne cafe scene. The name ‘Smith’ is derived from 'coffeesmith', a craftsman of coffee in the way a silver smith is a craftsman of precious metal. And Smith certainly sets a high standard when it comes to coffee, which is their very own unique blend.

Donna collaborated with a 3rd generation green bean buyer from South America to come up with their coffee blend, one that cannot be bought anywhere else. The blend is wonderfully rich and full bodied,  a defining characteristic of the Robusta component.  

However, the quality doesn’t end with the coffee at Smith. The cafe prides itself in the use of high quality produce and good food that is fresh, homemade and affordable.  Smith offers a range of light snacks from salads rolls and brioche to mouth watering pastries created by their own local pastry chef.

In addition to the croissants, (which are a must try at Smith), the breakfast menu* is an ode to all things light, fresh and healthy, featuring the likes of kale, zucchini and sprouted quinoa salad or two poached eggs with wilted spinach. (The eggs are organic and free range).

In a nutshell -  when in Ipswich, a visit to Smith, as one of Ipswich's best cafes, is not to be missed.
