Bramble Place
Sandgate
UPDATED 2020: THIS VENUE IS NOW TRADING AS THE SODA SHOP.
Bramble Place is a stylish Sandgate cafe with distinct Nordic influences which make it a refreshing and uplifting place to enjoy a meal or pot of tea.
Visitors may choose to sit beneath umbrellas outside or relax indoors as they sip their 'Botanica' fair trade organic coffee served with local Maleny Dairy milk, and nibble a treat from the delicious selection of cakes.
The cafe is open for breakfast (7am - 11.30am), lunch (11.30am - 2.30pm) and dinner (5.30pm - 9pm) and features a fresh, seasonal menu which combines the best local flavors with hints of Northern Europe, such as beef cheeks in Jagermeister and prune jus and Tasmanian salmon served with aioli and beetroot caviar. For breakfast, diners may create their own flavors or choose from the a la carte menu - the savory beef and beans served with house made tomato relish is definitely something special.
The corner building housing the cafe was named 'Bramble Place' in the 1980s and the current owners, Piia and Margus, have given the old site a new lease of life. From its restored timber floors to the light filled rooms that let the sea breezes in, Bramble Place makes an ideal destination for lunch or brunch.
After lunch or brunch, be sure to take a walk along Bramble Bay - Sandgate's beautiful foreshore area. From Sandgate Village, it is a gentle fifteen minute stroll, gazing East towards Moreton Island to see the new Shorncliffe Pier.
Nice to know: Award winning local artist, Raymond L. O'Brien's original oil paintings decorate the walls, adding a colourful touch to this seaside cafe.
Need to know: Bramble Place is located right opposite Sandgate Town Hall - just look out for the tall clock tower, and there is plenty of street parking along Loudon Street.
