Fireworks Gallery

Fortitude Valley

This atmospheric converted factory space on the Valley/Newstead border is home to some of the country’s best contemporary indigenous artists.

Started in 1993 as a spin-off from the Campfire Project - a group collaborative project between indigenous and non-indigenous artists - Fireworks has quietly established itself as one of Brisbane’s leading galleries and one of the best places to buy contemporary indigenous art.

Artists whose works are regularly exhibited include Barbara Weir, Clifford Possum, Dorothy Napangardi, George Tjungurrayi, Gloria Tamerre Petyarre, Kudditji Kngwarreye, Michael Nelson Jagamarra, and Mitjilli Napurrula. A few of these, such as Gloria Petyarre from the Utopia artist group and Dorothy Napangardi have become established in the art circuit of America.
