Sunset Cinema is back at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens , with an epic line-up of films from Feb 28-Apr 13.

Outdoor movies may be one thing but watching them in the magical surrounds of the tropical Botanic Gardens is an experience like no other. The natural amphitheatre provides the perfect backdrop to watch the stars under the stars, and Sunset Cinema is the perfect after-hours entertainment venue, whether for a date night, family night out or get-together with the girls.

With a swag of movies to choose from, there’s a something for everyone this year. The screenings will mix up Oscar favourites for quality film lovers; blockbuster sci-fi and comedy; golden oldies for the nostalgics; and family films to give the kids a memorable evening out. 

Take a trip with the fantastical Mary Poppins and Aquaman or sit back and enjoy new releases such as How To Train Your Dragon - Hidden World and Mary Queen of Scots. For something a little more gritty, there's Bohemian Rhapsody, On the Basis of Sex, Greenbook and King of Thieves to name but a few. Also in the mix are longtime, crowd favourites, The Princess Bride and Top Gun.

So, pack a picnic and BYO food or take advantage of the great food trucks on site, peddling a range of delicious eats. Classic cinema snacks like popcorn, chips, lollies and chocolates are also available. As for drinks, grab a cold glass of something (Young Henry's beer, Grant Burge wines or Naked Life's Sparkling soft drinks) from Sunset Cinema's legendary bar.

Need to know - Sunset Cinema is fully licensed so no BYO alcohol. GA tickets are available online up until 5 pm each screening night or at the Box Office from 5 pm (subject to availability). You can add seating hire to any GA tickets when booking your tickets online or hire on-site (also subject to availability).

Getting there - Take public transport (buses run to the Gardens - see Translink) or free parking is available in the gardens. Alternative parking may be available at J.C. Slaughter Falls carpark and Anzac Park surrounds.
