Talking Ideas SLQ

Walking Free describes Munjed’s escape from Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, his terrifying sea journey to Australia and the brutal mandatory detention he endured on Christmas Island. He also details his early work as a pioneering orthopaedic surgeon.

18 years after he left Iraq, Munjed returned to his homeland at the invitation of the Iraqi government. Listen as Munjed describes his emotional homecoming and how he helped change the lives of injured soldiers, police and civilians, who had lost limbs due to the horrific war against ISIS, using his cutting-edge medical techniques.

Nice to know -  Come along early and enjoy live music, cold beer and wine at the Library Café Bar beforehand.
