Qld Pops: NYE Masquerade Gala Concerts

Say goodbye to 2021 in style at the Queensland Pops' glamorous New Year’s Eve Masquerade Gala Concert on Friday, December 31, 2021 with 2 performances: 5:30pm or 9pm.  

Queensland Pops Orchestra is thrilled to return to QPAC's Concert Hall for the 37th consecutive year, to celebrate the end of an unforgettable year and to light a fuse of excitement as the countdown to 2022 begins.  

Maestro Patrick Pickett CSM has crafted a concert with an exotic atmosphere packed with virtuosity, colour and movement, as is the Pops tradition. The Masquerade Gala Concert is the perfect occasion to celebrate the end of 2021 and look forward to a new year with optimism and joy.

Joining Patrick and the fabulous musicians of the Queensland Pops Orchestra are a stellar cast of exceptional and gifted musicians.

The Gala concerts will feature internationally renowned Tenor Rosario La Spina, Mezzo-Soprano Milijana Nikolic, and Dramatic Soprano Elizabeth Lewis. The highly regarded trio will bring highlights of operatic music to the concerts, including excerpts from Bizet’s Carmen and everyone’s favourite O Sole Mio, with a twist.  

Special guest artist Alex Raineri will play Saint Saëns Africa - Fantasie for Piano and Orchestra, Op 89, while ballroom dancers will once again gracefully glide across the stage to Masquerade Waltz by Khachaturian.

As has become the tradition, Pipe Major Bruce Grice will pipe in the New Year from the QPAC rooftop, with the audience from the 9pm concert getting out in time to watch the dazzling display of fireworks over the Brisbane River.
