The Soda Shoppe is a charming retro cafe and family friendly American-inspired burger bar in Sandgate's town centre.

Occupying a landmark historic corner store, The Soda Shoppe has a smattering of seating outdoors and two small dining rooms inside.

Open for lunch and dinner, as well as sweet baked treats (think maple cream tart, baked almond cheesecake and peanut butter and chocolate cake, sundaes and shakes, The Soda Shoppe is also licensed, with a small selection of craft beer (from local breweries All-Inn Brewing Co and Brendale Brewing Co) and wine on offer as well as retro soft drinks like creaming soda and sarsparilla.

On the lunch and dinner menu are Hot Dogs - original, chill, nacho (guacamole, nacho cheese, jalapeno and crushed corn chips) and German (sauerkraut, crispy onions and mustard), chicken wings (half or whole kilo) and a wide range of burgers (includeing cheese, Dr Pepper, mac'n'cheese, black bean, chicken katsu curry, nacho chicken (with crushed corn chips) and buttermilk fried chicken.

There are also house-smoked meats (brisket, pulled pork or applewood smoked chicken) seved with a choice of sides such as sweet potato fries, jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks, as well as salads (chipotle chicken or roast pumpkin). Or try the sandwiches with house-smoked fillings of Montreal beef or chicken or the Spam sub. And for afters there's the likes of classic ice-cream sundaes or Eton Mess waffles.

And not to be missed are their legendary milkshakes, made from home-made syrups in various flavours, including the Fruit loop and, for grown-ups, Kahlua or Caramel Baileys Milkshakes.

Nice to know - In one of the rooms is a child friendly booth with toy box perfect for those with littlies in tow.

Need to know - There is on street parking available on both Loudon St and Eagle Terrace. Sandgate train station is only 8mins walk away.
