Petrie Terrace

Updated: Sep 03, 2024

BREWSKI HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN AUGUST 2024.

Brewski is Caxton St’s popular rustic craft beer den and chilled home away from home for beer aficionados, located in a landmark historic Petrie Terrace cottage.

The owners bring their flair for beer and design to dim lit bar Brewski whose character-filled interior has a hint of demolition chic: the main bar counter is made of blow-torched pallets and the old rough hewn brick walls look as if a sledge hammer has played a role in shaping them.

Adding character are a tree-house style courtyard and deck out back with district views, original fireplace, a Chesterfield couch-filled nook and bar tables with tops made from Romanian oak.

Owner Matt is the beer lover whose vision translates to the bar menu, with up to 12 rotating craft beers and cider on tap. Beers and ciders are sourced from Australian owned micro breweries such as Hobart Brewing Co, Black Hops Brewing, Mismatch Brewing Co and Mornington Peninsula.

Meanwhile in the bottled stakes, there’s some 150+ to choose from, sourced locally from Bacchus Brewing, Newstead Brewing Co, Green Beacon, Noisy Minor and Black Hops, nationally from the likes of Mornington, Feral, Brewcult, Akasha, Kaiju and Six String and globally from the US, New Zealand and Belgium.

Cider fans will find plenty to love here too with ciders such as Pipsqueak on tap and Willie Smit Organic and while there’s a small offering of other things alcoholic, Brewski aims for quality not quantity, with 10 or so especially selected wines, 40 below Zero and Grey Goose vodkas, Maker’s Mark and Elijah Grey bourbons and so forth.

On the food front, it's all about casual, quick and easy-to-eat here at Brewski, with a cracking range of low'n'slow BBQ dishes for both carnivores and vegans.
