Cat Cuddle Cafe
Red Hill
CAT CUDDLE CAFE HAS MOVED TO LUTWYCHE AS OF 2019 AND AWAITS A NEW REVIEW.
Cat Cuddle Café, Brisbane’s very first cat café is tucked away downstairs in a Red Hill shopping precinct, making a purrfect retreat for cat-lovers.
The concept behind Cat Cuddle Café is to raise money for and provide a potential home for rescue cats, with patrons paying $12 per hour to play and cuddle with the resident cats in their giant lounge playroom, with the option of enjoying a coffee or tea and tasty ‘kibbles’ from the counter area outside the lounge.
The small range of snacks available are all ‘cruelty free’ and include luscious Cloverly cupcakes, Bliss Balls and energy bars while to drink there’s soft drinks, tea (English breakfast or Meow-Chai) and a variety of coffee. Customers can either dine at the counter or take the food into the cat room*.
The giant cat play room is decorated with retro furniture, a shelf of cat books and strewn with all manner of cat toys, including a giant spinning wheel from Run Cat Run. Pull up a seat on a swivel chair or vintage couch or get down on the floor mat for some interactive fun and games with the resident cats – a session here is better than an hour of therapy.
At any one time up to 10 adult cats and a handful of kittens are on premise to engage with and potentially adopt and there’s also an outdoor caged balcony with views perfect for a coffee while the cats laze in the sun.
Behind the whole enterprise is Brisbane’s own ‘crazy cat lady’, the effervescent Katina, who runs a cat shelter and generally works tirelessly to save Brisbane’s going population of orphaned and abandoned cats. So any donations, or adoptions, or just a visit are welcomed and all for a good cause.
Need to know - *Entry to the cat lounge is $12 per hour. Children under 7 years of age are not admitted. BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL.
Nice to know – There’s a whole range of great cat-themed gifts, cards and merchandise by the counter that is available to purchase.
