Chinese New Year in the Lanes

Fortitude Valley

Welcome the Year of the Rat with a bang at The Lanes Fortitude Valley’s epic Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday February 1.

There’s fun to be had by everyone, with the highlight being an appearance by the traditional Chinese Dragon. Accompanied by a colourful musical ensemble, the dragon will weave its way through Bakery and California Lanes, ushering in good fortune for all.

It’s not just your eyes in for a feast either, with the eateries and bars within The Lanes serving up a plethora of oriental flavours from far and wide.

Start with a chow down on Brisbane’s famous Fat Dumpling dumplings, or explore the delicacies of Korea and Japan from Nom Nom Korean and Nom Nom Ramen and Sake Bar. The brave should follow this with a giant chocolate-and-sprinkle-covered MisFortune Cookie (foretelling the good, the bad and the ugly) from Cakes and Shit.

Six Ninety Bar, Botanical Lab, Poco Tapas and Cocktails, Born Creative Studio and Froth on Brunswick will also be present, plus there will be plenty of opportunities to quench your thirst with Asian-inspired cocktails (think lychee martinis) and other limited-edition mixology flavours.

Need to know –  Eateries and bars will be opened for dinner and drinks, while the Chinese Dragon weaves its way through Bakery Lane from 7pm and California Lane from 8pm (times subject to change).
