Bowen Hills
CHU BISTRO HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Chu Bistro in Bowen Hills is a pan-Asian eatery and bar offering flavour-filled fare from across South-East Asia along with craft beer and creative cocktails.
Perched on the corner of Campbell Street and Mayne Road, Chu Bisto boasts minimalist, industrial-style decor with high-ceilings, concrete bar, and furnishings in neutral tones.
The concise menu is big on flavour with delicious dishes inspired by Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian cuisine. Tapas-style plates designed to be shared include pork and chicken chive dumplings, BBQ pork steam buns, and tasty skewers of lamb satay with soy chilli dip.
Vegetarians are well catered for with plates of corn with ponzu, parmesan and chilli flakes, broccoli cooked in salted soybean butter and garlic, crispy tofu with szechuan seasoning, and silken tofu in mushroom broth.
For meat lovers, there's twice-cooked sticky pork ribs, turmeric marinated fried chicken, crispy skin duck, and chicken tom yum curry.
Sweets on offer include Indonesian layer cake served with coconut ice-cream and cashew nut crumb, and black sticky rice pudding.
Chu is fully-licensed with craft beer on tap, a concise wine list, and creative cocktails like their Lychini (42 Below vodka, fresh lime, lychees, and kaffir lime leaves), Kyoto Sour (Gekkeikan sake, grapefruit, agave and fresh lime), and Chinese Lemonade (42 Below vodka, sherry, basil and fresh lemon).
