Clancestry returns to QPAC from July 30 to August 9, to celebrate First Nations arts and culture.

An iconic event part of QPAC’s calendar since 2013, Clancestry is an exploration of identity and connection, providing a platform for both established and emerging First Nations artists to share their stories, perspectives, and talents.

Be immersed in the vibrant and continually evolving culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performing arts in a program proudly curated and run by Australian First Nations People, as they create, connect, and share as their ancestors have done for thousands of years before them.

Check out some highlights from the festival below.

Warriors, Clancestry, QPAC

WARRIORS | Concert Hall, 31 July, 7pm, $59-$69*

Don't miss this night of inspiring music and moving storytelling with Warriors, raising awareness of men’s mental health and featuring powerhouse First Nations artists Andrew Gurruwiwi Band, J-MILLA, Jungaji and Radical Son.

In 2024 men’s mental health continues to be a concern, particularly within First Nations communities. Bringing together musicians from across the country, Warriors presents a line-up of world-class artists who draw on their own personal experience with mental health, weaving their stories together through visual recordings while performing a selection from their incredible catalogue of music alongside new work.

Bangarra, Horizon, Clancestry, QPAC

BANGARRA DANCE THEATRE - HORIZON | Playhouse, 8-17 Aug, $59-$104*

There is a place between sea and sky – a sacred realm, where the sun rises and falls and the light is new. Some call it a feeling, some call it the mother spirit. It’s the place where sea meets sky, the horizon we all look to, the compass that guides us home.

In Bangarra Dance Theatre’s first mainstage cross-cultural collaboration comes Horizon, a brand-new work from two of the world’s great First Nations. Leading Māori choreographer Moss Te Ururangi Patterson together with beloved Bangarra alumna Deborah Brown guide the award-winning ensemble in stories that honour their mother countries and the spirit that calls them home.

This year will feature two conversations: one with stories behind the Torres Strait Islander musical Straight from the Strait, making its world premiere at this year’s Brisbane Festival, from the Aunties and Uncles who were there on that historic day; and speak to organisation Link-Up (Qld) about their work in reconnecting stolen generations back with family and Country.
