Dichotomy
Brisbane Ballet
Brisbane Ballet premieres their upcoming season with two stunning contemporary dance pieces in Dichotomy, at the Queensland Multicultural Centre, Kangaroo Point.
Audiences will be treated to a double bill choreographed by Emrys Goldsworthy - In Flux and Spectrum - with three performances from December 11-12.
In Flux (Part 1) - This post-classical ballet, performed by 5 dancers, pays homage to neoclassical choreographers George Balanchine and Kenneth MacMillan, with augmented balletic lines and flourishing turns and gravity defying lifts. Set to Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor and with blood red and flesh as a colour palette In Flux is an exhilarating and joyous dance work.
Spectrum - With cinematic orchestral music by Joby Talbot, Brisbane Ballet ventures into uncharted choreographic territory with this emotionally charged contemporary dance work. Together and apart, 5 dancers express a range of internal dialogues and emotions, with their relationships and self talk on full display.
Need to know - Performances are 1hr 15 with a 15 minute interval. There is free parking for up to 56 cars at Queensland Multicultural Centre, with on street parking also available nearby. Ferries also depart every 15 minutes from Eagle Street Pier to Holman St ( a 5 minute walk away).
