NewBARKet Dog Festival

Newmarket Village

NewBARKet Dog Festival returns to Newmarket Village on Saturday, June 8 with a fun-filled day out for Brisbane's four-legged furry friends and their hoomans.

Following the success of its inaugural 2018 festival, this dedicated dog fest is back, bigger and better with Brisbane's first Canine Circus, Dog Parade (The Greatest Show on Earth), Pupparazzi, Pet Psychic and more.

The hugely popular pooch parade features 11 hilarious categories including The Bearded Lady (messiest bed head), The Strong Man (most muscly dog), The Fortune Teller (best costume), and The Lion Tamer (dog owner look-alike). Register here.

Dogs can enjoy spending time in the Canine Circus Play Zone, complete with hula hoops & ball pits, have a free, professional photo taken by the Pupparazzi (register here), and even have their paws read. Inspired by Chris Lilley’s Jana Melhoopen-Jonks (Lunatics), this year's event will have its own Pet Psychic, Madame Dogma, providing paw, crystal and energy readings.

In addition, there's wellness talks by Mind, Body and Bowl, Insta-famous pooch pow-wows with @whatenzodid and @itsyaboypepsi, and Adoption Walk ‘n’ Talks with Happy Tails Animal Rescue and Hear No Evil Australia.

The Woof Market, featuring crowd favourite Pablo & Co and new stalls like L’Barkery, is back showcasing cute clothing, accessories and toys for man's best friend; while the Bone Bar is providing dog treats and fairy floss for pets and their humans all day.

Plus there's plenty of prizes to be won for those who find the Golden Paw stickers scattered throughout the centre and DJ Deena bringing the vibes.

Need to know - Located underneath Reading Cinemas at Newmarket Village, NewBARKet is a free event and open to all dogs on leads.
