Roaring Twenties Cinema

Online

Roaring Twenties Cinema is a unique opportunity to enjoy a night at the movies from 100 years ago, online.

Previously screened monthly at the Lumen Room, Metro Arts (which has now closed permanently), the nostalgic silent film night can now be enjoyed online from this Friday May 15th, 2020.

Buster Keaton Roaring Twenties

Screening online this Friday night at 7.30pm will be the classic Buster Keaton silent movie 'The General' (1926). One of the most revered comedies of the silent era, this film finds hapless Southern railroad engineer Johnny Gray (Buster Keaton) facing off against Union soldiers during the American Civil War.

To view, simply follow the Roaring Twenties Cinema Brisbane Facebook page and join the ‘watch party’ via their posted link on the night.

Nice to know - Behind the venture are Joel Archer of Golden Oldies and Kristian Fletcher, who has been bringing classic cinema to Brisbane audiences for fifteen years. Joel, who describes the event as ‘the cheapest form of time travel’, has worked with silent film for over a decade and with that runs the unique entertainment company Golden Oldies.
