SENDOK GARPU AT COOPERS PLAINS HAS CLOSED.

For a real Indonesian foodie experience unbeknown to all but the Indonesian community, head for Sendok Garpu at Coopers Plains.

Here on weekends a canteen in the middle of an industrial estate transforms into a bustling hawker's style eating place as families descend for an 'Indonesian Jajanan' or light meal – a mix of traditional dishes and street food just like at home.

Under a makeshift marquee diners drink iced Kopyor (coconut) and tuck into a host of delectable dishes such as Javanese Gulai Kambung (spiced lamb), Ayam Kalasam (marinated chicken in coconut sauce), Mpek Mpek Galambang (savoury fish cake delicacy), Nasi Goreng and Anekan Janana Pasar (traditional assorted sweets).

Not to be missed on Sundays is the Martabak Manis - a divine stuffed pancake with a sweet chocolate, cheese, sesame and peanut sauce stall made on site at a street cart.
