SWHEAT BAKERIES IN WOOLOOWIN HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
A small Wooloowin shopping strip is home to Swheat Bakeries, where willpower is pitted against the sights and smells of freshly baked goods.
Wire baskets stuffed with fresh, crusty, artisan breads and cabinets filled with so much deliciousness it's unfair, dare customers to walk out the door with only one purchase.
Savoury offerings include: a good variety of pies (including a breakfast pie and a vegetarian pie), sausage rolls, pastries, spinach and chicken rolls and chicken and corn rolls. Assorted sandwiches and toasted sandwiches are also available. Family sized pies and quiches are on hand to save the day when a quick meal is called for.
The usual bread rolls and sandwich loaves sit beside artisan breads like the rye sourdough, 3 cheese bread, pine nut and camembert sourdough and sun dried tomato, olive and feta bread - just to name a few. On Fridays and Saturdays apricot bread is added to the baskets and on weekends pumpkin bread makes an appearance.
Those seeking a sugar hit will be tempted by fruit pies, slices, meringues, cupcakes, muffins, citrus tarts, caramel tarts, pastries and more. Catching the eye are pretty little fruit flans that look so good they have been featured in the Queensland Bride magazine. Lemon curd teacake, date loaf and banana bread are amongst the treats waiting to be purchased for morning or afternoon teas.
Need to know - Another weekend special here is one of the best value breakfasts likely to be found in Brisbane. Di Bella coffee and tea are served to wash all that breakfasty goodness down and finish the meal.
Nice to know - Swheat Bakeries also make beautiful cakes to order for special occasions and can help with catering for functions, big and small.
