Tehran Cafe

Moorooka

TEHRAN CAFE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Tehran Cafe is a tiny slice of Persia tucked away in a quiet pocket of Moorooka serving traditional Persian sweets and more.

Tehran Cafe, Moorooka

Found on a leafy street corner at the Belong community centre, this hidden gem is an open air cafe with tables, swing chairs and a day bed sprawled across the lawn beneath shady trees.

Here customers can get a true taste of Persia (also called Iran) with authentic home made fare from falafel and flatbreads to Persian sweets like baklava, best accompanied by a well-brewed cup of coffee or Persian herbal tea.

In addition, there's doymaj (a tangy purée of fruit and garlic), kookoo sabzi (herb omelettes), and capsicum dolmas (stuffed peppers). Customers can also purchase little jars of Persian sauces such as tomato rose water and lime and turmeric, as well as order Persian wines.
