Unwined Bar & Kitchen is a cosy, ambient wine bar/eatery that is the secret shining star of Ascot's eat street Racecourse Road.

Not just the place to enjoy a boutique wine or beer or bespoke cocktail by candlelight, Unwined Bar & Kitchen is a serious (yet casual) dining destination, with a delectable Asian fusion menu prepared from scratch on site by a Nepalese chef.

The concise wine list is a carefully curated selection of biodynamic,organic and/or sustainable wines from boutique wineries, either by the glass or bottle. Whites include Granite Ridge Chardonnay (Granite Belt), Black Cottage Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough) and Unico Zelo jade & Jasper Fiano (a must try). Reds include Whistler "Thank God it' Friday" Shiraz (Barossa Valley), Granite Ridge Shiraz and In Dreams Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley) and sparkling wines include Champagne Canard (France) and Canaletto Prosecco (Veneto).

A small list of cocktails includes the classics - mojito, white/black Russian, daiquiri, Long Island Iced tea and martinis as well as creative concoctions such as Cool It (gin, watermelon, mint, lemon and soda), Bound for the Stars (whiskey, lemon, ginger, cinnamon and bitters) and house signature Deep Tropics (spiced rum, smoked tequila, pineapple, passionfruit, lime and with optional side of grenadine). All cocktails are made using mostly Australian small batch spirits (also available as mixers).

And for beer drinkers there's a rotating range of craft beers including some from local brewers such as Ballistic Brewing Co and Fonzie Abbott.

No visit to Unwined should be without sampling some of the delectable food on offer, with a menu that includes Bao Buns, San Choi Bau (beef or mushrooms), the must try Momos (Nepalese dumplings with a divine spicy sauce, botyh made from scratch in-house), and Lentil Dahl with Flatbread (also baked in-house).

There's also a highly recommended goat curry which comes served with house-baked roti, karaage chicken wings, rosemary salt squid, seasoned chicken wings and wedges with house-made aioli.

Salads are another stand-out here - think Nut & Seed Salad (another must-try) or roast vege salad. And to share there's a Cheese Board or a Share Board (choice of 2 Bao Buns, 2 San Coi Bao and 6 momos with sauce).
