Cielo Rooftop Bar

Fortitude Valley

Updated: Sep 17, 2024

Cielo Rooftop Bar brings chic Italian coastal vibes and sweeping views to Fortitude Valley from its perch above an historic building facade on Brunswick Street.

The stunning bar is part of La Costa, a multi-level Italian venue comprising 3 bars and a restaurant, from the folks behind Australia's best bar Meet Sammy, Salt Meats Cheese and Eterna.

The stunning rooftop bar is a summery vision of the Italian Riviera, with stylish yellow and white booths under wrought iron arches, retractable roof, olive trees in giant pots, fresh herbs in planter boxes and stylish patio and bar furniture.

Overlooking the Valley rooftops including the graffiti's shell of the old Waltons building tower and the art deco facade of Mc Whirters, every seat in the bar enjoys a view, including a narrow balcony offshoot to one side. Here you'll find one long banquette interspersed with tiny table and chic pink lamps, framed by a jasmine vine.

Take a seat amongst the fragrant herb pots adorning the terrace (which feature fresh rosemary, curry and bay leaves) and enjoy one of the cocktails the bar is famous for. Try the Portofino with Ketel One, mango, passionfruit, maraschino, orange Curaçao, lemon and a tropical bubble, or the Venice Beach, a combination of the classic strawberry daiquiri and piña colada.

As well as the world-class cocktails, there's a premium  selection of champagnes, wine and spirits on offer, together with a light Italian-flavoured bar menu, ideal for summer rooftop snacking.

The seafood-focused menu features delicious morsels such as octopus carpaccio with fried capers, kingfish ceviche with shaved fennel, grapefruit and dill, and prosciutto, bocconcini and honey en croute.

Good to know - La Costa Bar, the 2nd of the 3 bars behind the historic facade, is also open and entry is via the ground floor adjacent to the FV Peppers entrance. A wine bar and restaurant are due to open in early 2021.

Need to know - Entry to Cielo Rooftop is via a glass door and short corridor leading to an elevator. Take the lift to R floor.
