Elderflower Cafe

North Tivoli

Updated: Sep 23, 2020

With a menu that sports a strong German flavour, Elderflower Cafe in North Tivoli is a delightful space to enjoy a relaxed meal in the company of friends and family.

Dog-friendly and child-friendly, the menu comes with a hint of European influence that is sure to suit all tastes, and proudly supports local suppliers and farmers, with free-range eggs, along with much of the meat-based protein, heralding farm-fresh daily from nearby Lockyer suppliers.

Open for breakfast and lunch, afternoon tea and morning tea, when visiting on the weekend, you’ll find the Weekend Brekky menu, available 8am–12.30pm, loaded with breakfast favourites. Think along the lines of Eggs Benedict, the Big Brekky for those with a hunger (and including Chef’s signature potato rosette that is nearly too pretty to eat), freshly-baked frittata, eggs (your way) on sourdough, and more.

Needing 2 days’ notice for the following menu choices, with planning diners can relish in devouring a Continental Breakfast that any UK traveller will identify with (complete with cold cuts & ham, cheese including camembert, a soft-boiled free-range egg, bread rolls, juice, tea or coffee), an authentic Bavarian Sausage Breakfast (pretzel, Weisswursts with Sweet Mustard) and even a High Tea for 2.

For those wanting a lighter start for breakfast or brunch, consider ordering a traditional German pretzel (served with cream cheese and chives, or liverwurst and pickles) or the house-made muesli (served with yoghurt and seasonal fruits), with more on offer, including toasties (available Tues-Sun) and daily home-made cake specials.

The Pancake Stack, perfect for kids big and little, comes with seasonal fruit and cream, with the option of being served with ice-cream or coconut ice-cream… a lovely decadent breakfast touch.

Weekdays, the menu is slightly limited for lunch choices because the chef waits to see what the farmers have on offer before deciding on his lunch specials, so make sure you follow Elderflower Cafe on social media to be enticed by Chef’s creations.

The cafe is split into two airy seating areas, the smaller perfect for hosting a small gathering or family get-together, with its very own totally Insta-worthy tête-à-tête spot.

Coffee on pour is Byron Bay’s Zentveld’s Roastery coffee, and tea drinkers are looked after with selection of ethically-grown, certified organic Tielka loose-leaf tea, served up in quaint, one-off teapots. If a herbal tea is your ideal cup of char, chamomile blossoms, peppermint leaf, limonada rose and licorice basket are a couple of the Tielka infusions on rotation to enjoy.

If a cold beverage is on your horizon, choose from the likes of iced latte, iced chai latte, iced coffee and iced chocolate, plus a range of milkshakes, fruit smoothies, and a selection of sparkling softdrinks, including Elderflower Lemonade and home-brewed kombucha. And great to see, there are no plastic straws here - the cafe uses only reuseable metal sipware.

Nice to know – Gluten-free hot chocolates can be made, on request, and almond milk and lactose-free milk are also an option. There is a great sides offering for breakfast, and a dedicated kids' menu. At least one vegetarian option is included on the menu daily.

Need to know – Plenty of free parking is onsite, and high-chairs are available for tiny tots. And remember, dogs are welcome (but must remain on leash with their hoomans).
