Reuben's Deli and Bar is a New York-inspired deli cafe serving authentic Reuben sandwiches and much more from its stylish digs in Paddington.
Reuben's provides indoor seating in a small, modern dining room as well as more casual dining in the bar area, adorned with bold NY City street and subway scenes, plus an al fresco dining space on the patio overlooking Given Terrace.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, customers can start the day with a well-brewed cup of coffee, roasted locally by Wolff Coffee Roasters, along with top-notch breakfast fare; from Eggs Benedict (two poached eggs with grilled bacon, smoked pastrami or salmon lox on rye toast with hollandaise sauce and spinach), and Pastrami Hash (roasted potato hash tossed with smoked pastrami and caramelised onion served with an egg), to Huevos Rancheros - toasted flour tortillas topped with black beans, avocado, smoked pork, freshly grated manchego and pico de gallo cheese, drizzled with ranchero sauce and served with an egg sunny-side up.
The heroes on the menu though are Reuben's classic sandwiches - inspired by favourites from New York delis where Jewish, German, Italian and Latino cultures mingle - made with mouth-watering meats like house cured, smoked pastrami and slow-braised beef brisket.
Stand-outs are the deli's signature sandwich The Reuben (pastrami layered with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing on freshly baked rye bread), Pastrami Queen (pastrami, Swiss, deli brown mustard, coleslaw and Alabama white sauce on rye) and Braised Brisket (smoked, braised beef brisket with house made barbecue sauce, pickled jalapeno and crispy onion on thick-cut challah toast). All sandwiches are served with house-made potato crisps and a delish zesty dill pickle.
Alternatively, there are bagels, subs, hoagies, hot dogs and burgers including The Italian Hoagie, The Cuban, Chicken Parmy Sub, and Houston Street Burger - juicy beef burger topped with pastrami, Swiss and American cheese, lettuce, tomato and Reuben's special sauce.
Otherwise, there are big plates of Italian meatballs in Napoli sauce on fettucine, lamb shanks on beds of 'Thanksgiving' mash, and classic Louisiana jambalaya - rice sautéed with capsicums, onions, celery, prawns, chicken, smoked pork and spicy chorizo.
Reuben's is licensed with eight beers on tap including local craft brews, a carefully-curated wine list and classic cocktails like the Perfect Manhattan, Whisky Sour or High Line Martini - a heady concoction of Four Pillars Gin, Cointreau, Licor 43 and apricot liqueur.
Nice to know - Reuben's is child-friendly with a dedicated kids menu: meatballs and fettucine, cheeseburgers, chicken and chips, and gooey grilled cheese sandwiches.
