Dark Blue
Fortitude Valley
Updated: Jun 23, 2025
Dark Blue is a little hidden treasure of a wine and cocktail bar nestled within an historic brick bulding on the corner of Winn lane, Fortitude Valley.

The second bar from the savvy owner of popular pocket-sized wine bar, Dark Red Wine Bar in Bakery Lane, Dark Blue occupies the split-level space that was once home to indie clothing boutique The Outpost, having converted it into one of the Valley's most ambient drinking holes.

The plant-framed entry is just inslde Winn Lane, opposite one of Brisbane's best burger bars, Ben's Burgers, leading to a stunning chandelier and pedantt-lit space with original warehouse windows, rough-hewn brick walls and seating for just 30 patrons.

From the drinks list, cocktails include Med Martini and DB Spritz; as well as creative concoctions like Caramel Carajillo (RLicor43, Archie Rose vodka, cassia, clove, cold brew & salted caramel); A Fig Deal (ITiny Friday's Pisco, fig, rosemary, white chocolate, Malbec, lemon & milk clarified); and The Spicy One (Arette Bianco tequila, Artesenal mezcal, madarin, mint, lime & agave).

There's also a couple of 'Gin & Tonicas' - Gin Mare, Strangelove bitter lemon tonic, rosemary & olive; or Threefold Raspberry Gin, Fevertree elderflower tonic, thyme & mixed berry.

Meanwhile the concise wine list offers a curated selection of boutique wines, including whites from Argentina, Portugal & Chile; rose from Argentina and orange from Chile; as well as reds from Argentina, Chile and Australia.

Need to know - There are two metered car parks on Winn Street, and nearest secure parking is at McWhirters.
