Copperhead Brewery
Cooroy
Copperhead Brewery is small-batch boutique brewery and restaurant located in the tiny town of Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast.
An hour and a half drive from Brisbane, this hinterland hidden gem is well worth a visit; not only for its beer brewed exclusively in-house, but for its top-notch foodie fare.
The décor is rustic and modern, with exposed brick, timber beams and smart furnishings. Customers can enjoy a burger and beer at the beer or a three course meal in the light filled dining room.
Start with small plates of mushroom arancini balls, flash fried calamari, house cured salmon with avocado panna cotta, or share a Copperhead Platter – pate, pork and chicken terrine, smoked meats, stout and onion jam and flatbread.
Mouth-watering mains include stout braised lamb shoulder for 2, grass fed sirloin steak, free range chicken parmigiana, and roasted duck leg with burnt miso caramel.
Otherwise, there are Turkish style pizzas and lunch specials such as vegetarian falafel burgers, wagyu beef burgers and steak sandwiches.
Divine desserts include double chocolate and walnut brownies with orange coconut ice-cream, mascarpone cheesecake with lemon curd and gingerbread crumble, or try the Tasting Plate of malted panna cotta, chocolate stout ice cream, candied cashews, whisky cake and whisky cream.
Child-friendly, the kids menu ranges from spag bol and ham and cheese pizza to fish and chips or crumbed chicken and chips.
There are over a dozen Copperhead beers on tap but if you can’t decide, order a tasting paddle of the top 5 Copperhead brews - Euro Lager, Peach Wheat, Amber Ale, Irish Red Ale, and Vanilla Porter.
Besides beer, there’s a carefully curated, predominantly Australian wine list, classic cocktails (from margaritas and martinis to aperol spritzes) and spirits.
