Death Star Canteen

Brisbane Cbd

Updated: Jun 25, 2025

Death Star Canteen, Brisbane’s first Star Wars themed café has come from a galaxy far, far away to land on the far reaches of Queen Street in the CBD.

Trek north from the mall and a block past the GPO an inflatable R2-D2 marks the spot out front, under the sign ‘This is the café you’ve been looking for’.

Death Star Canteen Brisbane

Originally owned by quirky city personality Glen (the artist formerly known as Glen’s Espresso), cosy little Death Star Canteen is mindful of the planet and galaxy it occupies, with fair trade coffee and a heap of free range, ethically-acquired items on the menu.

Visitors from other galaxies can take a seat inside next to the Star Wars stencil art under the Storm Trooper in the hammock or outside where Star Wars fans, some in costume, line up for pics with R2-D2.

Regardless of whether you’re a Star Wars fan though, Death Star Canteen is a top spot to enjoy an excellent cup of The Coffee Roasters coffee, a Vader Salad or a gourmet sandwich with delicious fillings including Slow-Braised Grass-fed Beef, Free Range Chicken or Pulled Pork, Olive and Lemon Tapenade or Garlic and Fennel Salami.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
