Microlot Coffee House
Hawthorne
Microlot Coffee House in Hawthorne is a charming, specialty coffee café offering filtered, single origin and a house blend, Meraki, made with beans sourced direct and roasted locally on the Gold Coast.
Found on the corner of Riding Road and Pashen Street, a short stroll from Hawthorne Park, this boutique coffee outfit is owned by Simon and Mia Mylonas together with Calder Dryden, who co-owns a coffee farm in Colombia and travels there twice a year to source the best beans, which are roasted locally in Brisbane.
Open daily, customers can sit inside the bright, light-filled space or outside in a cosy courtyard, shaded by umbrella, and admire the vertical wall garden.
Homebaked treats on hand include delicious danishes, gluten-free hummingbird cakes and raspberry and chocolate ganache doughnuts. Once their food license has been approved (mid-March), Microlot will launch their small but tasty menu - think avocado and preserved lemons with fresh coriander seeds on sourdough, sticky plum pork, gruyere cheese, fried egg and onion jam on toasted brioche bun and sourdough pancakes with charred peach cheeks and sweet vanilla bean labneh.
Organic chai, smoothies and milkshakes (vanilla malt, strawberry jam and organic chocolate) round out the drinks menu.
