Officers Mess
New Farm
Officers Mess is a all-day riverfront diner located in a former naval base dating back to 1943.
Serving a delicious breakfast offering from 6:30am and a sumptuous selection of small plates, snacks and sips from 11am to late, this slice of history is a must do!
The arrival in Brisbane of United States Navy warships in April 1942 saw the establishment of the New Farm submarine base. It was every regiments' central gathering place for exchanging ideas, jokes, scandals and complaints. Still a meeting place for all walks of life, the Officers Mess is a place for Brisbane locals to enjoy good food, drinks and stunning riverfront views.
Speaking of food, visitors can enjoy a range of early-morning bites from granola bowls, pastries and crepes to brekky rolls, Croque Monsieur and Shakshuka. From 11am punters can dig into the likes of fresh oysters, charcuterie and cheese plates, baked camembert, chicken karaage, loaded fries, prawn rolls, burgers and tacos,
Wash it all down with a Wolff Coffee Roasters coffee, cold-pressed juice or smoothie. Once the sun goes down, a range of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers on tap and more become available.
Nice to know: Visitors can opt to sit on the picnic tables along the river, or bring a picnic blanket to enjoy some food and drinks on the lawn. There are also tables available undercover in the mess.
Need to know: There is a small car park available for Officers Mess customers.
