Elixir Coffee Hq Espresso Lounge

Stafford

This bright little cafe roastery is the unlikely treasure buried deep within the light industrial zone of Stafford. And in its short life it has established itself as one of the stars of Brisbane’s coffee scene, thanks to its owners for whom coffee is in the blood. The Narcisco brothers are the sons of the one time owners of the Cosmopolitan Cafe which in the 1980s was Brisbane’s first roastery.

But the attraction here goes beyond the excellence of the beans, with uber friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff and a café menu that, although it would blend in happily in the inner city, far excels anything else on offer in the vicinity. And the attention to detail permeates everything including the well written and described coffee calling cards that are handed out with any coffee tried and any bag of beans taken away.

The menu is simple but at great value hits the mark, with BLTs, toasties and superior Italian snacks such as arancini, paninis and the biscotti.

With parking nearby a virtual impossibility on week days when surrounding businesses are operational it is still worth the walk or better still take the bike via the Kedron Brook bikeway and make a detour at Grange Forest to Wagsall and Wolverhampton St to connect to Hayward.
