Gertrude & Mabel is a gorgeous cafe with a Greek influence, located on the corner of Gladstone and Deighton Roads in Dutton Park,

Open daily for breakfast, lunch, treats and coffee, this suburban gem oozes shabby chic charm with dark timber flooring, French provincial style furnishings, chandeliers and vintage china.  

Short and sweet, the breakfast menu includes Mum’s bircher muesli, French toast brioche with fresh ricotta, berries and honey and fasolatha (baked white beans), tomatoes, chorizo, egg and bread.  

Lunch options range from hearty homemade soups – like pumpkin, leek and bacon – and spanakopita served with salad to G&M’s ploughman’s lunch with cured delights and condiments.  

Patrons can also order freshly made ribbon sandwiches, quiches and salads or try the daily lunch special such as shredded shoulder of lamb with deconstructed Greek salad on ciabatta. 

The house made desserts are a must-try and include rice pudding with rhubarb compote, pear, chocolate and ricotta tart and Greek sweets like kourabiedes; enjoyed best with a Greek coffee or Two Seasons espresso.

Besides coffee, customers can sip loose leaf tea, Pellegrino sparkling mineral water or refreshing homemade lemonade or iced tea.
