Blacksmith Specialty Coffee

Mt Gravatt

Off the beaten track of Logan Road, Blacksmith Speciality Coffee is a secret southside cafe offering locally roasted Bear Bones espresso brewed anyway you like - including cold press, AeroPress and Chemex - alongside wholesome breakfasts, lunches and freshly baked muffins and cakes.

This hidden gem can be found on the first floor of an apartment complex on Bothwell Street, metres from Mt Gravatt's main shopping strip. With a slightly industrial vibe, smart black metal chairs and light and dark timber tables are teamed together nicely with polished concrete flooring and plenty of plants - including a striking custom-made communal table with built-in greenery.

Open early six days a week, customers can begin their day with healthy fare such as toasted quinoa granola served with Greek yoghurt, milk, honey and seasonal fruit, bircher muesli with rhubarb and apple compote or avocado on sourdough with housemade balsamic reduction.

Caffe Latte in a glass

Lunch consists of gourmet sandwiches - like salami, roasted roma tomatoes, mozzarella and basil - made on artisan sourdough or fresh croissants. Sweet treats, baked in-house daily, might include macadamia and white chocolate slice or triple chocolate brownies.

Pots of tea, spiced chai lattes, smoothies and milkshakes (chocolate nutella, simply strawberry, salted caramel and vanilla bean) round out the drinks menu.
