Walkabout Creek Cafe
The Gap
The Gap's Walkabout Creek Cafe, located at the gateway to D'Aguilar National Park, has a weekend lunch menu that hits the spot - with tasty open grill sandwiches such as salami, roast capsicum and feta, chicken, tomato and brie, or haloumi, sweet potato and pesto - chicken and beef burgers alongside faves like frittata or the fresh chicken salad.

Sitting above Walkabout Creek's Wildlife Centre with a wrap around veranda overlooking the pademelon enclosure, this tree house cafe is the perfect place to take kids with meals for children including chicken nuggets or crumbed fish with chips, salad and a poppa.

Open seven days a week, the cafe offers a good selection of food during the week with salads, sandwiches, sausage rolls, meat pies and more. Grinders organic coffee is on pour while loose leaf Temple Tea and milkshakes in five flavours round out the drinks menu. Or if you'd like a tipple, beer and wine is also available.

After lunch, visit the wildlife centre where (for a small fee) you can view tawny frogmouths, frilled neck lizards, wallabies and wombats or embark on a bush walk with two trails leading directly from the cafe.
*Things to note: Set in a beautiful bush setting overlooking Enoggera Reservoir, just 12km from Brisbane's CBD, Walkabout Creek Cafe is an ideal location for conferences and weddings; with Brisbane's premier catering company Cuisine on Cue taking care of the menu.
