Hawthorne Garage

Hawthorne

Updated: Jan 10, 2021

This fantastic gourmet deli, providore and fresh food market inhabits a century old garage on Hawthorne's leafy main street – look for the red vintage dodge fruit truck that marks the spot out front. Inside the garage workshop character has been maintained, with old signs and exposed girders on the roof yet and the rest given a slick makeover with polished floor, gleaming shelves and mood lighting.

The expansive deli has a mouth-watering array of top notch antipasto, featuring Hawthorne Garage's own brand of kallamata olives, tartufo truffle cheese, Raclette and Roquefort cheeses, sopressa, pancetta, prosciutto, chorizo, muscatels and salads with a sweet edge added by delicious morsels from Jocelyn's Provisions.

Towards the rear are all the pantry items – Euro Cucina jars of semolina, rice flour and polenta, oils, relishes, European and English mustards, Dutch cocoa, jams and a terrific range of organic salsas, mayonnaises, syrups, cereals and baby foods as well as gluten free pastas, bread, cake and baking mixes.

Illy coffee, Yorkshire tea and Zendveld's chai teas are all available here as are Sugo-Mi gelati, gourmet frozen pastas (such as prawn, chilli, lime and lemongrass ravioli), heat-up soups, gourmet meats (think Bangalow bacon and pork and butterfly boned quail) and a whole fruit and vegie section that is restocked fresh daily.

Add to this a mini bakery stocking Leavain bread, a florist's corner, an espresso window, a tiny range of pre-made rolls and sandwiches with a terrace to stop and snack in and Hawthorne Garage is pretty much an everything-you-could-wish-for under one roof, top-shelf shopping experience.
