Ho Choi Restaurant

Moorooka

Updated: Sep 18, 2024

Ho Choi, Brisbane's oldest Chinese restaurant, stands like a time capsule in Moorooka, dating from the era when Chinese restaurants were the only taste of multicultural dining in Brisbane's suburbs.

Still run by the third generation of the Liu family who established it in 1966, little has changed at Ho Choi since that era. Step inside to find the circular cloth-covered tables in a dining room with paper lanterns, that is entered via an original archway.

The menu is a trip back in time to the Anglo-Chinese food served then, with classic staples like Chow Mein, sweet'n'sour pork, curry or satay prawns, beef in black bean sauce, lemon chicken and fried rice.

The menu is available for dine in or take away, and while Ho Choi is fully licensed, diners can BYO wine with a corkage charge.

Need to know - There is limited onsite parking at the Hughes Centre, otherwise onstret parking nearby.
