Bamboo Basket

South Brisbane

Updated: Sep 18, 2024

It may be a little far from the South Bank action but Bamboo Basket offers its own flurry of activity thanks to the chefs who ply their trade in the street-facing window of the restaurant.

Whilst it makes good viewing as evidenced by the passers by who stop to gawp, it also makes for splendid eating. This is excellent quality Chinese with a Shanghai flavour at non-tourist prices, with the emphasis on delicious dim sum (in bamboo baskets) and noodles.

For starters the Shanghai dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), one of the restaurant’s signature dishes, are not to be missed, along with the hand made noodles which feature throughout and the fresh made buns which come as accompaniments.
