Mademoiselle
Hamilton
Mademoiselle is a chic Parisian-style bistro and bar with a cool summery Queensland vibe in the heart of Portside Wharf, Hamilton.
From the owners of elegant French bakery and champagne bar Rise, which is located across the road, Mademoiselle is like stumbling across a real slice of France in the riverside precinct.
Divided into three sections, diners can choose between the breezy covered outdoor terrace with its striped banquettes and garden -style furniture, the elegant bistro with smokey mirrors, wall lamps, leather banquettes and a bar along one side.
There's also a spacious bar area, perfect for an apperitif like Kir Royale or Black raspberry Margarita or glass of champagne, French wine and a plate of amuse bouches, and this occupies the other half of inside.
The menu is based on French tradition, using fresh Queensland produce and taken skilfully to the next level with a creative contemporary twist, starting with Amuse Bouches such as Oeuf Mimosa (deviled egg with fennel cream and confit prawn); Moules au beuure d'escargot (locally harvested mussels in garlic & chervil butter); and Tartelette Soleil (Meridional take on a tarte tatin, with heirloom tomatoes).
For entree, the delectable choices include Poulpe à la sauce vierge (WA octopus, sauce vierge, hummus & citrus fruit, crispy chickpeas); Sardines juste saisies (flash seared sardines served with green sauce & garlic chips); Jambon persillé (ham hock terrine, celeriac, cornichons & wholegrain mustard); and Brochette de St Jacques (scallop skewered on buttered leek, with seafood velouté and toasted hazelnuts).
Plats Principaux (mains) include Daube à la provencale (300Gr Slow cooked 2GR full blood wagyu beef Neck MB9+ with crushed potatoes, black olives and spices); Poisson de roche et risotto (Market fish with a capsicum and kelp risotto); Magret de canard (Duck breast with blackberry and Juniper reduction, carrots two ways).
There's also Gnocchi Parisienne au beurre blanc (gnocchi pâte à choux , white onion cream, sweet & sour shallots, currants); Steak Frites (300Gr grass-fed Sirloin steak and fries with red wine jus, served with a green salad); and, to share Poulet rôtisserie (half or whole); and Chuck tail flap à l'échalote (A butcher's take on a French classic: Kidman premium grain fed chuck flat tail MB 3+ and shallot jus).
For dessert there's a choice of Crème brûlée; Dame blanche (vanilla ice cream with whipped cream & dark chocolate sauce) or Gâteau à la part (Rise Bakery large cakes by the slice); as well as a selection of one, two or three French cheeses. And there's a small menu of dessert wines or digestifs to accompany.
From the bar there's a mix of French, European and Australian beers on tap, and a premium wine list featuring mostly French wines and champagne. Cocktails include mostyl French classics like Boulevardier (whiskey, sweet vermouth & campari); Chambord Spritz (Chambord, French sparking wine) and French Martini as well as Black Raspberry Margarita.
Good to know - Mademoiselle also has a small kids menu for ages 12yrs and under - Quarter chicken or cheeseburger with fries or gnocchi with tomaton sauce and basil.
