Satay Ria Malaysian

Cannon Hill

Updated: Feb 16, 2025

Satay Ria, one of the best Malaysian restaurants in Brisbane, is an unlikely suburban find in Cannon Hill's drive in shopping centre.

With a sleek red hued interior decked out with dark wooden furniture and Asian artefacts, it opens for lunch and dinner daily, serving up excellent Malaysian food that is the real deal.

As the name suggests, house specialty revolves around the satay dishes while others that come recommended on the Featured menu include the yam basket – a bowl made from deep fried yam (taro) with chicken filling, Butter King Prawns, Bak Kut Teh (Herbal Soup) or the Singapore Chilli Crab.

Otherwise expect to find roti curry and chanai (delicious flaky flat bread), fish with sambal or assam sauces, Singapore noodles or curry laksa and a smattering of Chinese dishes amongst the extensive menu choices on offer.

Need to know: leave room for a delicious traditional dessert like Kuih Ketayap – shredded coconut stuffed pancake. While lunch time diners may jostle for car parks with shoppers, by night parking is as easy as it gets.
