The Gap Tavern

The Gap

Updated: Sep 17, 2024

The Gap Tavern, perched on a hill at the base of a disused 19th century granite quarry, virtually performs a community service for parents of young ones in the western suburbs.

The food is reasonable if steeply priced pub grub but the drawcard, beyond the sweeping vistas of Brisbane, is the space devoted to indoor/outdoor play areas. The best spot, if you can get in early, are the tables on the outdoor deck overlooking the enclosed playground.

On inclement evenings kids pack into the games room which offers a combination of old-fashioned penny arcade like games alongside computer games.

Note that the above opening times relate to the bistro while the pub itself is open daily from 10am to way beyond most parents’ bedtime – midnight.
