Sorellina Pizzeria

Sorellina is a casual yet slick Euro-style pizzeria in Woolloongabba’s historic Logan Rd precinct and the perfect drop-in for a top notch traditional pizza and beer or a carafe of Italian wine.

Décor-wise Sorellina keeps it simple – polished concrete floors, wooden tables and chairs and sidewalk dining surrounded by tubs of fresh herbs that diners are free to pick and add to their meals.

And while the menu is compact Sorellina is all about pizzas (bianco and rosso), which it does exceptionally well and salads which are every bit as good as the pizzas.

Of the ten pizzas on offer, white-based toppings include zucchini, buffalo ricotta and chili, mushrooms with pecorino and sausage, mozzarella and rosemary while tomato-based include the simple yet delicious buffalo mozzarella and basil and prosciutto, smoked provola and rocket.

Meanwhile the salads, which are a must try, include rocket roasted grapes, pecorino and fried almonds and chick peas, cavolo nero, cumin and cider vinegar.

For afters the sweets menu features a giant wood-fired cookie-choc chip and chocolate mousse or smoked pannacotta, both of which come in a jar.

In keeping things traditional, owner Cam (who know his stuff – he also owns Enoteca 1889 in the same street) has decent quality white and red Italian house wines by the glass, half carafe or full carafe, which make the perfect accompaniment to the pizzas, As well there are 3 craft beers on tap and ten by the bottle (including Italian Turan Ultrasonica) and a wine list that is half Italian, half Oz.

There are also traditional Italian apperitivi such as aperol spritz to start the meal and liqueurs like limoncello to finish it.

Need to know: Early in the evening (and at lunch) Sorellina makes for great family friendly dining with its walk-in no reservations policy (for groups less than 6), laidback vibe and staff willingness to add or subtract ingredients according to young palettes.
