Pho Hung Vuong Saigon is a bright contemporary restaurant serving traditional and authentic Vietnamese cuisine on Paddington's Given Terrace.
With a handful of tables on the footpath, the main seating is along a red leather banquette that runs the length of the narrow restaurant under golden lanterns and overlooked by small black framed pics of Vietnamese hats and fans.
The traditional top value menu features all of the Vietnamese favourites, from banh mi, pho and salads to wraps, seafood and rice dishes.
For starters there's a choice of spring rolls (traditional pork, prawn & vegetarian); crispy fried chicken wings topped with crispy garlic; sugarcane prawns (Moreton Bay prawns on a sugarcane skewer) and lalot beef (betel-leaf wrapped char-grilled beef).
Banh mi fillings include lemongrass beef or chicken, roasted pork belly or Vietnamese pork cold cuts with house made pate & mayo while pho flavours include sliced rare beef. brisket, chicken, beef & brisket or the house special - beef & chicken cuts, housemade sausage & beef ball.
The wide selection of Vietnamese salads includes green papaya with pork & prawns; lemongrass beef or chicken; wagyu salad; Buncha (chargrilled marinated pork belly & special meat patties); or ginger beef sauce salad. Meanwhile seafood dishes include the highly recommended salt & pepper soft shell crab; stir fried prawns or grilled fish with turmeric & dill.
There's also a choice of traditional Vietnamese wraps (lalot beef, lemongrass chicken or beef and sugarcane prawns) and rice dishes (chicken or prawn fried rice, lemongrass chicken and classic grilled pork chop with egg and steamed rice).
Pho Hung Vuong is also fully licensed, with a selection of wines, Asian beers and young coconut juice amongst the drinks on offer.
