Electric Avenue is an exquisite old world pub that perfectly captures the spirit of Woolloongabba’s antique precinct with a thoroughly modern twist that even does a traditional British Sunday roast*.
Step through the doorway of Electric Avenue’s heritage-listed brick building into a charming bygone era of dapper waiters in black tie, shiny wood panelling, Chesterfield lounges, taxidermy, glass cabinets filled with antiques and collectibles, and lit by vintage lamps, teacup candles and chandeliers.
In the foyer is the splendid vintage lounge bar, the perfect place to enjoy a tipple or two from the extensive drinks menu, along with a delicious bar snack such as rustic fries, warmed bread and duch rillette. On offer are a choice of 75 wines, beers on tap & bottled, premium spirits (including an impressive array of whiskeys), Cognac and Almagnac as well as Apperitifs and Digestifs.
Tucked away to the rear of the bar is a secret antique toy store-themed ‘courtyard’ with timber booths and chess set tables, festooned with a fascinating collection of old toys.
Electric Avenue's cosy vintage dining rooms and nooks with antique chairs, burgundy curtains and black leather banquettes are the perfect place to tuck into some delicious pub food - think share plates like chicken wings, loaded fries and soft shell tacos, along with artisan cheese and charcuterie boards.
Also available are burgers (crispy chicken, pork belly, vegetarian and the Electric Classic - house ground smoked beef chuck) and salads (Asian green, summer or grain).
For something more substantial Mains include ricotta gnocchi, yellow tail king fish, creole chicken or steak (beef sirloin or eye fillet) with sides of smoked potatoes, steamed greens or braised lentils.
And to finish there's Desserts of chocolate mousse, cheese cake, Meyer lemon tart and ice-cream.
Nice to know – The highly talented lads who own Canvas Cocktail Bar across the road are also the owners and creative forces behind Electric Avenue.
Need to know – Upstairs is Electric Avenue’s secret speakeasy jazz bar, Jack Rabbits, perfect for a pre or post dinner drink. Look for the antique armoire entrance.
