Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts

Brisbane Cbd

Updated: Mar 09, 2025

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts are selling like hotcakes in Brisbane’s hustling UPTOWN centre – known as Japan’s favourite snack, these cheese tarts are definitely worth a try.

The shop is a small hole in the wall like space that sells one thing, which is baked cheese tarts. There is an open plan kitchen so you can see your tart being glazed, cooked and served. But, what are they? Baked cheese tarts are made from a blend of three delicious cheeses, cased within a biscuit-like pastry and baked. The tart originated from the Japanese town of Hokkaido, note the aptly named store.

There are three delicious flavours to choose from; original (a must do), chocolate and Hokkaido’s newest flavour, blueberry. The tarts can be purchased individually or in a box of six. We recommend ordering a box of six, you’ll be surprised at how many you’re capable of eating. Hokkaido also serves their specialty cheese flavoured soft-serve (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it) as well as a strawberry flavour, for those not game enough to try.

Need to know – public transport is nearby. Takeaway only.

Nice to know – Hokkaido will be releasing new flavours. Hokkaido has another store in the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.
