Caboolture Country Markets

Caboolture

Updated: Jan 24, 2023

Located in the Caboolture Showgrounds about an hour’s drive north of Brisbane, the Caboolture Country Markets is one of SE Qld’s longest running community markets, having started back in 1979.

Held every Sunday morning, they offer a great array of pickings hosting many permanent stall holders coupled with seasonal attendees, which adds to the eclectic excitement of what you’re going to discover each time you visit.

Locally grown fresh fruit & vegies, freshly laid eggs, local cheese and seafood keep regulars coming back and offers fantastic value for money. As with any market, though, look around rather than buying at the first one you come across.

Not something that you see at many country markets, the Caboolture Country Markets has a small animal nursery that houses varying live poultry for sale – think chickens, hens, roosters, ducks and the like. Be early as these often sell fast.

It’s not uncommon to find stall holders with secondhand tools and handmade water features for your garden along with quirky & cool backyard art and trendy macrame pot plant hangers.

You’ll find an absolute abundance of plant stalls, many offering hard-to-find plants at very attractive prices. From ferns, palms and indoor plants to seasonal herbs, seedlings, fruit trees, outdoor plants, succulents and more, there’s so much on offer.

Looking for something a little different, there is an assortment of second-hand stalls such as purveyors of vinyl records, plus run of the mill but useful general household items, books and toys.

For those with a country kitchen vibe happening at home, you’ll be crowing about the offerings, and if you’re sitting on the fence about whether to purchase or not, remember that the grass is always greenest where you water it!

Stroll around and you’ll spot a mixture of interesting pieces from yesteryear ranging from collectible stamps, vintage crockery and homewares.

Some stalls have avid collectors behind the counter with a mixture of things from different eras which can be fun to sift through to find the perfect piece.

When hunger strikes, there are many pop-up food providores dotted around the markets offering a range of fare to suit all tastes and you’ll find plenty of covered seating to sit and enjoy your choice.

Parking is free and is plentiful.

Nice to know – Being open to the elements, remember to pack a hat or brolly to protect yourself from the weather. Plus, remember to take your own bags for your purchases. There are literally rows and rows (and rows!!) of treasures to be found so make sure you wear comfy shoes.

Need to know – These markets are not pet-friendly, so please leave your furry friends at home.

Need to know – There are a couple of exceptions for when the markets are run. Check out their website for details here.
