Bridges MD -Belgian Dining
Currumbin
Bridges MD - Belgian Dining is an authentic little slice of Belgium in a charmingly converted shop opposite Currumbin Creek. The only Belgian restaurant and bar in the Gold Coast, this hidden gem is well worth a visit.
The nearest thing to visiting Belgium without hopping on a plane, Bridges is an absolute delight and a must-visit if on the Gold Coast. Helmed by Belgian chef/owner and her Czech partner and owner, both of whom have created a warm and convivial European venue which feels like you are guests in their home.
Take a seat at the tiny bar in front and enjoy a selection from 30 Belgian beers or glass of wine or out back in the enchanted fairy-lit vine-covered courtyard and be treated to the best of Belgian cuisine, made from scratch using the chef's grandmother's recipes.
Choose from appetizers like salmon tartare with radish cream cheese and avocado (a must-try); triple cheese or peppery prawn croquette; or Flemish style asparagus with potato puree, crispy bacon and walnut cream.
Mains revolve around Belgium's national dish - Moules Frites, a delectable pot of mussels in a choice of Provencale, Marinere or Green Curry sauces, served with bread for dipping and a side of Belgium's famous fries (with a choice of home-made sauces (andalouse, tartare, samurai, cocktail, aioli or mayonnaise). Otherwise there's delicious homemade meatballs or vegetarian lasagne.
Save room for dessert, with heavenly dishes like chocolate mousse, chocolate fondant, fresh Belgian waffle or affogato with chocolate truffle, otherwise there's a cheese platter. You can also indulge in some Belgian truffles or pralines that are handmade onsite by chef Delphine and on display in the glass cabinet in the bar area.
Need to know - There is on street parking available nearby.
