Binna Burra Lodge

Beechmont

Binna Burra Lodge is a slice of paradise nestled within the ancient subtropical rainforests of Lamington National Park, part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.

From 1933, Binna Burra Lodge was a destination for bushwalkers and holidaymakers who stayed in the historic accommodation and walked the surrounding trails, until a fire erased the original stone and timber lodge in late 2019.

At The Rainforest Campsite you'll find a spot to pitch your tent or park the caravan as well as permanent safari tents. The tents sleep from 2 to 6 people, with new bunk beds and mattresses and offering private balconies with either rainforest or Numinbah Valley views.

With screened opening windows, table and chairs and access to the communal fire pits, there's everything you need for a comfortable camping trip without the hassles of putting up tents and hauling your own equipment.*

Those who prefer their luxuries are well catered for at Binna Burra's stunning Sky Lodges, ranging from Studios to 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, all of which offer stunning uninterrupted views of the Coomera and Numinbah Valleys.

All of the studios and apartments feature ensuites with spa bath overlooking the mountains, balcony with outdoor seating, gas flame fire place, large plasma TV and either king size or twin beds. The apartments also have a BBQ on the balcony and a fully sized and equipped kitchen while the studios have kitchenette facilities.

Guests can opt to self-cater for breakfast and lunch or dine within the charming old world surrounds of Binna Burra Kitchen, the historic Beechmont school house which has been transformed into a licensed cafe and bar. The Lamington Teahouse has undergone a major refurbishment and will reopen as a slick new cafe, bar and grocery store on September 14th. And nearby in Beechmont you'll also find the Flying Bean Cafe, open for breakfast and lunch 5 days and serves up tasty pizzas, beer and espresso martinis every Friday night.

Whilst some of the surrounding national park and trails are still closed, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your stay at Binna Burra Lodge. Start the day by catching the breath-taking sunrise over Binna Burra from one of the many stunning lookouts then pay a visit to Bigfoot, the massive 500 year old Tallowwood. One of Binna Burra's oldest and most photographed trees, Bigfoot can be reached via a short 5 minute walk within the Bellbird Circuit.

By day, pack a picnic and take the 5km Tullawallal circuit trail, which offers the chance to spot local wildlife and see ancient Antarctic beech trees, with a rock clearing that is a great spot to enjoy some al fresco dining. The Caves Circuit, which is also around 5km return, provides excellent views into the Coomera Valley and will take you past a large red cedar and fine specimens of other rainforest tree species.

If you're staying in the Rainforest Campsite, be sure to bring some marshmallows to toast in the evening over the brand new communal fire pits.

Other nearby attractions include Rosins Lookout, offering amazing views of the border mountain ranges of Queensland and NSW, a must-stop on the way in to Binna Burra Lodge. Beechmont's Syd Duncan Park & Lookout is a perfect side trip for families, with jaw-dropping lookout and a nature play space including a dry creek bed, timber structures for physical and imaginative play, a tunnels embankment slide, basketball court, and more.
