Green Beacon Brewing Co

Teneriffe

Updated: Sep 04, 2024

Teneriffe's original boutique craft brewery, Green Beacon Brewing Co pulls in the crowds day and night with fresh, smooth and bubbling ales straight from the tap - the way the brewer intended.

Located only a short walk from the Teneriffe City Cat stop, the industrial chic micro brewery has split the space in two - one side with tables and chairs for guests to chill out and one side for the silver brewing tanks with a long bar running in between.

Funky light shades hang high over the bar while industrial-style taps and basins are scattered all over for diners to wash their hands with Green Beacon's own beer soap and filtered water similar to what is used in the handmade and all natural boutique brews.

While Green Beacon has a great selection of permanent beers such as the Penny Porter (5%), their special releases board is the one to watch with rich picks such as The Digger (7%) with sweet tones and an oaty after taste as well as a hoppy golden ale The Whaler (5.4%).

There is a local Queensland red, white and sparkling wine list for the non-beer drinkers who are looking for a hip place to hang out.

The bottles of wine and cool beer tap spouts flow for hours on end while the kitchen pushes out sophisticated brewery food. The golden dish is the large Seafood Platter with ocean fresh oysters, king prawns and Moreton Bay bug. Served with a side of Roza's smokey mayonnaise (a 'must try'!), this share plate is one you would want to keep for yourself if it weren't for the decent portion size.

Green Beacon caters for vegetarians with the likes of the Session Plate 1 that boasts farmhouse cheddar and fantastic beer snacks such as cashews and hummus with Chouquette sourdough.

However, the thing that sets Green Beacon apart from other breweries in Brisbane is the unique selection of take home products. While t-shirts are always a fun souvenir for the traveller, the beer soap is a great novelty with a fantastic function for the home. Growlers (equivalent to a six pack) and squealers (half a six pack / 1 litre) allow visitors to takeaway awesome draught beer for consumption in their own homes. This makes for great party catering, unique gifts or a fantastic home treat.

Note: Gluten-free options are available. Menu may have changed since our visit.
