Updated: May 04, 2022

Haig Street Quarry Reserve is a former quarry that has been transformed into a tranquil bushland reserve, just 5 minutes from the centre of Ipswich and an easy drive off the Warrego Highway.

The walking circuits meander through the eucalypts and past the water birds frolicking on the quarry pond. If you look up, you might be lucky enough to see a koala.

Picnic areas are scattered throughout the reserve, most with covered BBQ areas and open green spaces. There’s also a playground for the kids, which makes a perfect location for a birthday party.

And if looking for a BBQ with a view, the Tom Craik Lookout area at the top of the reserve where the BBQs are located, offers magnificent views over the Scenic Rim.

In a nutshell - The Haig Street Quarry Reserve is truly an Ipswich treasure, it is well-maintained, has toilet facilities and has been expertly rejuvenated for everyone to enjoy, even the wildlife. Indeed, it's amazing that there is bushland like this so close to town.
