Beth Boyd Park

Thorneside

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Expansive water views, wide open spaces and plenty of play equipment await visitors to Thorneside’s Beth Boyd Park.

Enjoying absolute water frontage, Beth Boyd Park holds appeal for all ages. Children will be kept well entertained by the array of play equipment spread across the park. The larger playground is covered and features slides, swings, climbing walls and nets, plus a water and sand activity table.

A second, uncovered play structure sits on the water’s edge and takes the form of a pirate ship. When the tide is high, it’s not too much of a stretch for children to think they really are sailing on the high seas.

Other attractions in this impressive park include beach volleyball and basketball courts, and twin slides cut into the hill, where kids can take turns finding out who is the fastest slider. The public toilet block also has change room facilities for those wanting to slip into some swimming gear and take a dip in the bay.

For a change of pace, the park has several picnic shelters and electric barbecues, plus a number of shaded benches, perfectly placed to take in the spectacular bay views. If you’re seeking a refreshment hit, there’s a cluster of cafes across the road, including a Charlie’s Raw Squeeze juice bar.

The Moreton Bay Cycleway runs through the park and is a great spot for the kids to ride, scoot or skate. For a longer adventure, follow the path east for about 1.5 kilometres and you’ll find Aquatic Paradise Park West, home to an off-leash dog area, a smaller playground and picnic/barbecue facilities. And, of course, some pretty impressive water views.
